"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society." -Mark Twain
Clear pants. I am not sure that this is something I can jump on board with. I appreciate seeing them on the runway, where it is used as high fashion and has artistic flair. I appreciate them as a layer piece over fun leggings. I can NOT handle them as regular streetwear... I feel no one wants to see me in my underwear and I in turn do not want to see them in theirs.
Transparent bottoms were first seen on the runway of Loewe, who showed clear plastic pants in 2015 for its Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Vogue magazine then predicted that this would be an emerging trend, and it looks like they were correct.
The trend started to arise in 2016 when transparent pants were seen again on the runway all year.
The trend started to rise as streetwear in 2017 when TopShop came out with "Moto clear plastic straight leg jeans" that retailed for $100.
The clear pants theme kept alive on the runways of 2018 Spring and Fall shows.
Sheer pants were seen again on the 2019 runway, but a fair amount of class was added. These are made from silk organza material and has taken the transparent pant from lewd to lovely.
The clear bottoms trend may have gained popularity from Americans seeing Kim Kardashian and her sisters Kylie and Kourtney wearing them as streetwear.
Kim Kardashian West was so pumped about her rad thigh high boots that she forgot to put a shirt on.
Kylie Jenner was inspired by the transparent trend.
Kourtney Kardashian in transparent black.
Musician Mila J in a track pant.
